Waldir Pimenta, who successfully completed the MEI in Dec.2010, finished in 2nd position (ex-aequo) in the Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge (master category) and received a prize money of EUR 1,000. This contest, organized by the research center Fraunhofer AICOS, challenges students and researchers of Portuguese universities to present innovative ideas and with practical utility, in the areas of Information Technology and Communication, Multimedia and other similar sciences.

Waldir Pimenta, who successfully completed the MEI in Dec.2010, is among the six finalists of the Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge, a contest organized by the Fraunhofer AICOS research center that challenges students and researchers of Portuguese universities to present innovative ideas and with practical utility, in the areas of Information Technology and Communication, Multimedia and other similar sciences.

On Oct.02, Carlos Miguel Regedor Tower was in Lisbon to attend the International Symposium on Project Approaches in Engineering Education (PAEE 2011). The main objective was to present a paper, written by himself and his colleague Luís Couto Duarte, also a MEI student .

The winner of Multicert Prize in the academic year 2010/11 is the MEI student Pedro Vasconcelos Lopes Castro Faria, who achieved the highest score in the UCE30 on Cryptography and Information Systems Security (CSSI). The award will be formally delivered on Oct.27, as part of the celebrations of the 36th anniversary of UMinho School of Engineering.
