Magic Defenders

Two UMinho students have created a video game for various Apple platforms, like iPad, iPod and iPhone, and are preparing to start up a game producer, where they will employ professionals.

Manuel Costa, a MEI student has indicated that "the game is becoming very popular, everyone enjoys the experience, the market is also responding well. In the short term, we will have our production company." This project is being conducted in partnership with Ricardo Graça, an architect. The game was intensively developed in three the two entrepreneurs created the "Magic Defenders" game, in which the player assumes the role of a hero who has magical powers and is defending his village from several invasions of 'orcs'.

The game, which can be purchased online for EUR 1.60, was built with the Corona SDK development software. AnscaMobile, the US company that owns this software, has immediately distinguished "Magic Defenders" on its debut as "Application of the Week" and is using the game for its own promotion, among thousands of titles. Manuel and Ricardo are already working to make this game also available on the Android platform.

The decision to create a "factory" of entertainment applications for mobile devices emerged during IdeaLab, the lab of business ideas promoted by TecMinho. "Let's take a chance and then see what happens," said Manuel .
